Role Overview:
TAU Engineering Solutions is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its multidisciplinary engineering team. This role is ideal for someone
who thrives in complex brownfield and greenfield environments, understands the realities of midstream operations, and brings a high level of
technical rigor to structural design, analysis, and project execution.
You’ll provide technical leadership across pipeline facilities, terminals, pump stations, storage infrastructure, and related civil/structural systems.
This position plays a key role in ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective structural solutions throughout the project lifecycle from concept and
FEED through detailed engineering, construction, and operations support.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Lead structural engineering design for midstream facilities, including pipe racks, equipment supports, foundations, and modular structures.
•
Perform advanced structural analysis using industry-standard tools (e.g., STAAD, SFRAME).
•
Develop and review engineering deliverables: calculations, drawings, specifications, design reports, construction work packages, shop
drawings, and vendor document submissions.
•
Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
•
Conduct structural assessments of existing facilities, including fitness-for-service evaluations and remediation recommendations.
•
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and provincial regulations.
•
Collaborate with project managers, discipline leads, and construction teams to resolve design issues and support field execution.
•
Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and risk evaluations.
•
Support cost estimating, scheduling, and scope development during FEED and DBM phases.
•
Interface with clients and third-party engineering firms as required.
Qualifications:
•
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering; Master’s degree considered an asset.
•
Registered (or eligible) as a P.Eng. in Alberta.
•
10+ years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 years in midstream oil & gas (pipelines, terminals, storage, or related
facilities).
•
Strong knowledge of Canadian codes and standards (CSA Z662, CSA S16, CSA A23.3, API 650/653, etc.).
•
Demonstrated experience with brownfield modifications, load evaluations, and structural integrity assessments.
•
Proficiency with structural analysis software and 3D model review tools (e.g., Navisworks).
•
Strong communication skills and ability to lead technical discussions with clients and stakeholders.
•
Proven ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
•
