Location: Edmonton Department: Engineering Reports To: Senior Piping Designer / Piping Designer Manager Job Type: Full-time Role Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Piping Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. As a Junior Piping Designer, you will assist in the creation and design of piping systems for a variety of industrial projects. You will work under the guidance of senior designers to support the development of 3D Visualization. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to build their career in the piping design field and gain hands-on experience in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: Assist in the design and drafting of piping systems using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, or 3D modeling tools). Support the preparation of piping layouts, schematics, and diagrams in accordance with project specifications and standards. Collaborate with senior designers and engineers to ensure designs meet all relevant codes, standards, and safety requirements. Review and update existing designs, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement. Prepare and maintain design documentation, including piping material lists, isometric drawings, and valve schedules. Assist in conducting field surveys and gather information for piping design. Participate in design reviews, ensuring designs are functional, efficient, and aligned with project requirements. Provide support in the coordination and communication of design changes with other teams and stakeholders. Learn and apply best practices in piping design, while keeping up to date with new tools, techniques, and industry standards. Qualifications: Basic knowledge of piping design principles, materials, and systems. Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, or similar), with the willingness to learn new software tools. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with technical drawings and schematics. Good understanding of mechanical systems, fluid dynamics, and pipe stress analysis. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work well in a team environment and under the guidance of senior designers and engineers. A proactive approach to problem-solving and learning on the job. Experience or familiarity with industry codes and standards (ASME, ASCE, etc.) is a plus but not required. Certificate of Design Technology. Preferred Skill: Internship or prior experience in piping design. Knowledge of 3D piping design tools such as Navisworks. Basic understanding of structural design and integration with piping systems. Familiarity with the oil & gas, petrochemical, or power generation industries is an advantage. Why Join us?
