TAU Engineering solutions

TAU Engineering was founded in 2002 as a consulting engineering firm that specializes in transient hydraulics for pipeline systems including terminal facilities. Recently, Tau has expanded by bringing in team members with a wealth of experience in other areas and has invested in new but complementary technologies that include pipe design, augmented reality, 3D facility modeling and video animation. This breadth of expertise has become central to our extraordinary increase in productivity. What used to take weeks can now be done in a fraction of that time. We often hear feedback e.g., “How do you do that so fast?” and “I didn’t know it could be done like that.” or “The results are so clearly provided and easy to understand and auditable that I can’t imagine doing it any other way.” We don’t seek to be the biggest but we strive to be the best and to exceed expectations on every job. Ulli Pietsch P.Eng. Ulli is the founder of TAU Engineering Solutions Inc and has more than 34 years of experience using hydraulic simulation tools to solve a wide array of problems for the pipeline industry. He is a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) who spent more than 13 years at Enbridge (formerly known as Interprovincial Pipe Line) before striking out on his own and has experience with steady state and transient hydraulic analysis, tuning simulation models to match real world data, SCADA integrated operator training simulation systems and leak detection on pipeline systems in both North and South America. Joe Riordan P.E. Joe has over 40 years experience with pipelines. He is a registered professional engineer (P.E.) and spent 31 years on the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) where he had various roles ranging from field engineer, operations and management including three years on the board (Owners committee). His expertise is with mechanical engineering systems for both operations and maintenance involving pump stations, piping, marine terminals, fire protection, and economic analysis of oil and gas projects and facilities. He has extensive experience on oil pipeline systems in the US and Canada.
